The Vampire Girl

Lola is turning 118 in five days.

She sits on her bedroom window's ledge looking up at the silver-tinged night sky. From up here, everything feels like a shadow of what it really is. The night can be so deceiving, and yet it can still reveal so much. Lola's head swims with thoughts about her birthday, about what she is and what she wants to do, and what she wishes she could be.

She is excited about her birthday if a little guarded. You see, Lola has a dream, which among many things, revolves around leaving this place. She wants to go out into the real world and explore everything she never had a chance to see or hear or taste before. The only obstacle in the face of this dream is her mother's protective streak. Her mother, to put it mildly, despises humans and everything that has to do with them. It is true that her mother is somewhat justified in this dislike due to the fact that her mother believes the fire that killed Lola' father was started by a human. A vampire hunting, monsters hating humans. But Lola still wants to go out and see people, and hate them due to her own experience not just due to an image drawn to her by her mother.

Lola looks down at the long stretch of darkness separating her from the view of the trees of the forbidden forest which surrounds the hotel from all sides. Her room is located at the very top of the tower. The distance from where she is to where her eyes are focused would appear to anyone else considerably long. Lola gets to her feet standing on the ledge, takes a deep breath, and jumps.

The moment her body hits the night air, she feels herself transforming. She feels it like a quiet buzzing in the depth of her bones. the few moments which take her from her human form into her bat one are her favorite. These moments are the reason Lola has not given up hope yet. she reckons if it is possible for her to leave her own skin, to let go freely whenever she feels like it, she'll be able to let go of these walls and her mother's words and leave this place. It's fickle, but it is hope, and Lola clings to it with all she has.

She spreads her wings, letting a 'whoosh' of air out of her lungs and dives as fast as she can to the ground. Holly ravines, does she absolutely love flying. Once the ground comes into view, she prepares herself, waiting for the right moment then lifts up again in the direction of the silver glowing moon.
